Methodist Church in Tanzania


It was established in 1986 as a Mission of the Methodist Church in Kenya and in 1988 it was registered in Tanzania with a chairman of the Methodist Church in Tanzania under the Nairobi Synod.

The church started with Three Pastors, Emilio Shitundu ,Marco Ng'humba and James Busongo After them, Pastor Steven Makena and Evangelist Bulugu joined.

Until now, the church has total of thirteen (13) pastors including Missionaries Rev Kim and Rev Bae. In 2011 the Methodist Church in Tanzania was granted the status of the Tanzania Synod under the Kenyan Conference.

The Methodist Church in Tanzania is increasingly spreading in various regions of Tanzania such as: Mwanza, Mara, Simiyu,Geita, Arusha.


The Methodist emblem has the following elements


(a) The upper part showing the church of Christ (b) M- Methodist (c) + - The redemption of Jesus Christ (d) T-Tanzania-the country where the church is located (e) two white marks on the right and left - the presence of the Holy Spirit (f) The 12 parts of blue - are the 12 apostles of Jesus Christ. (g) The two ends of the upper church - it is a church .

The Foundation of the Church


The foundation of the Methodist church is JESUS ​​CHRIST as stated in the Bible in the book of EPHESIANS 2:20 The faith of the Methodist Church as set out in the constitution is in accordance with the Holy Scriptures. which reveals the LORD JESUS ​​CHRIST to us and teaches us how to live as Christians (2 Timothy 3:16)
